Lynk & Co advocates carsharing to promote sustainable mobility
In a society where cars remain inactive for 96% of the time, Lynk & Co has identified an opportunity for positive change through carsharing. In contrast with other traditional car manufacturers, Lynk & Co supports a simple future-facing approach: sharing vehicles to promote more sustainable mobility.

Carsharing with Lynk & Co in numbers
To date, Lynk & Co cars have been shared a total of 1.5 million hours! That is in excess of 18,000 cars and transforming the inactive time of vehicles into valuable shared mobility experiences.
Because, in an already saturated market, Lynk & Co have decided to continue towards sustainable mobility as their business model. In order to do so, they have developed an attractive, intuitive user interface that offers users incentives that go beyond the reduction of their carbon footprint. And so, all bookings and transactions are carried out securely and easily through their app, and all the shared vehicles have the backing of Lynk & Co comprehensive insurance.
Share and earn
Through their app, the company allows the owners and subscribers of their ’01’ model to share their vehicles safely with others and obtain earnings in the process.
“Lynk & Co promotes a more efficient use of cars.”
Sharing is an intrinsic value in Lynk & Co’s DNA, and that’s why each ‘01’ model is equipped with integrated technology that facilitates sharing, proving that the company’s vehicles are designed for just that.
Therefore, this intelligent and ambitious vision proposes a radical transformation of the nature of vehicle ownership, through its innovative carsharing program.
Additionally, as we mentioned before, as well as contributing to being more sustainable, Lynk & Co’s carsharing also allows us to benefit financially.
In other words, this business model is allowing the company’s subscribers to cover their monthly subscription fees with the income they generate by sharing their cars. Double shot!
The prices, established by the car owners themselves, vary from 9 euros/hour in Sweden to 30 euros/hour in Italy, which mark the highest and lowest tariffs respectively.
Although the Netherlands are in the lead with this model, as 22% of owners there participate in vehicle sharing programs, the truth is that many EU countries are joining this new paradigm.
The Future is Now
And given that the best way to understand something new is to get to know its creators, we made the most of our stay in Gothenburg and chatted to Alain Visser, CEO and the soul of Lynk & Co.
Seldom do you meet an executive director who is so passionate about his business and has such clear and revolutionary ideas and vision, with which he promotes change and is boldly shaping a new future for the mobility industry. His goal is to build a more inclusive and environmentally responsible future.
Furthermore, and as a result of his bold leadership, Visser was named one of the ten most influential CMOs according to Forbes, during his time at Volvo Cars. He has also held positions of global leadership at Volvo Cars and influential positions, such as member of the board of directors at Adam Opel AG.
“We are a community that offers experiences that promote positive change.”
His achievements include promoting equality at work and providing equal work opportunities and fair treatment at work for all, regardless of gender, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, impairments or other personal characteristics. In that sense, Lynk & Co is an excellent example of this.
We also spoke to Mathieu Spencer, marketing director at Lynk & Co, with a great deal of experience in different sectors such as mobility, financial technology and consumer goods, and at companies like FinTech, BMW, Volkswagen or Ford, and creative and digital agencies. His passion is to work with disruptive and defiant brands that will become cultural movements, something he has found at Lynk & Co, where they promote, above all, a change in a sector such as the mobility/ automobile sector where the rules have remained unchanged for years.
We know that the future requires less vehicles, and that it requires us to learn to use those cars in the most sustainable way possible. That’s why, carsharing is a winning choice. Food for thought.
