Apotek 57, FRAMA’s evocative café in Copenhagen
As we always say, “we’re more into what’s good than what’s new”. That’s why we want to recommend this spot in Copenhagen, located within one of our favourite brands and shops: FRAMA.
It’s called Apotek 57, a café we absolutely love, which opened almost three years ago and has become an ideal place to enjoy a coffee, have a meal, or simply take a break.

It’s housed inside St. Pauls Apotek, a classic Danish pharmacy dating back to 1878, within FRAMA’s Studio Store, in the iconic Nyboder district of Copenhagen. The chef behind the kitchen is Chiara Barla, who has crafted a menu based on homemade recipes made with organic, seasonal and delicious ingredients.

With a background in art history, Barla has created a menu where fresh ingredients, unique flavours, vibrant colours and rich textures take centre stage. The menu also features a curated selection of baked goods made exclusively for Apotek 57, paired with La Cabra coffee, homemade jams, preserves, freshly pressed juices and fermented drinks. Everything is prepared in-house. Mmmm…
As part of FRAMA’s growth, the brand has also launched a series of its own products — including an olive oil made from Taggiasca olives in Liguria, and a red wine produced with Dolcetto grapes harvested in 2020 in Alba, Piedmont.
Holistic design by FRAMA
This multidisciplinary design studio, founded in 2011 by Niels Strøyer Christophersen, works across a wide range of creative fields: from furniture, lighting and kitchens to books, clothing and fragrances.
What truly defines this Danish lifestyle brand is its holistic vision of design, and its ability to create objects that awaken the senses and promote a conscious way of living.
They focus on a minimal yet striking visual approach that is deeply captivating and aesthetically refined, while using high-quality natural materials and embracing simple geometries.
The result is a timeless yet contemporary look — something FRAMA is renowned for.
Naturally, this entire philosophy has been applied to the café. Each spatial element is seamlessly integrated, creating a fluid scenography bathed in natural light.
And if that weren’t enough, the entire space is filled with the brand’s own pieces — from lighting, dining tables and chairs, kitchen units and self-care products to tableware, glassware, cutlery and other home accessories — forming a balanced and inspiring experience.
What’s more, seeing these objects in such a special setting makes it easy to imagine them in our own homes.
Long table gatherings by FRAMA
You may remember FRAMA’s Long Table Gatherings, a limited series of private events organised in collaboration with Kinfolk, which for years featured some of Copenhagen’s most celebrated chefs. These gatherings were a true reflection of FRAMA’s love for culinary culture.

As mentioned, the interiors of this legendary pharmacy have been reimagined with great intelligence and given a contemporary twist.

A perfect example lies in the preservation of original details — such as the ornate wooden panelling, shelving and wooden cabinets — all maintained as part of the decor.
Ultimately, Apotek 57 is a space for celebrating community and culinary culture, and we can’t recommend it enough for your next trip to this incredible city. We can’t wait to go back…
