CAN Ibiza 2026: art takes over the island
Ibiza is once again preparing for one of the most anticipated cultural moments of the summer. From 25 to 28 June 2026, CAN Ibiza celebrates its fifth edition, consolidating something that only a few years ago seemed almost improbable: turning the island into one of the major international meeting points for contemporary art.
What began as an almost intuitive vision by Sergio Sancho — also founder of CAN Madrid — has evolved into a true Mediterranean “Art Week”, where galleries, collectors, artists, designers and culture lovers coexist between exhibitions, conversations, hotels, beach clubs and impossible sunsets.
And perhaps that is precisely part of CAN’s success: understanding that contemporary art can also be experienced through desire, atmosphere and aesthetic pleasure.
A boutique fair with an international perspective
Curated by Sasa Bogojev, the fair maintains its boutique format and carefully selected roster of invited galleries, reinforcing a coherent curatorial line deeply connected to the new sensibilities shaping contemporary art today.
More than 30 national and international galleries will participate this year at the FECOEV venue, with a strong international presence once again confirming the fair’s global character. New additions include names such as Patricia Low Contemporary, Mayoral, Georgina Pounds Gallery, Good Mother Gallery and VERVE.

The mix feels particularly compelling because CAN manages to balance established artists with some of the most exciting emerging voices of the moment.
The 2026 edition will bring together works by historical figures such as Leonora Carrington, Erwin Wurm and Mario Testino alongside artists including Savannah Harris, Javier Ruiz, Ubay Murillo and Jessica Luostarinen.
That dialogue between generations, languages and geographies is precisely one of the fair’s greatest strengths.
Contemporary art beyond painting
If there is one thing defining this new edition, it is the growing openness towards new formats and disciplines.
Although painting still plays an important role, CAN Ibiza 2026 clearly embraces textile works, mixed media, installations and contemporary sculpture.
It is a natural evolution that also reflects where the market itself is moving and, above all, the concerns and interests of newer generations of artists and collectors.

In this sense, one of the major highlights will be the presence of galleries and projects exploring precisely that hybrid territory between art, design and contemporary craftsmanship.
Particularly promising is the new edition of CAN Design, a section dedicated to collectible pieces situated at the intersection of design, architecture and artistic creation.
Following the success of its debut in 2025, this year spaces such as Galería También, Nagami Design and Estudio Laterna will participate, reinforcing the idea that contemporary design can no longer be understood separately from today’s visual culture.
The names everyone will be talking about
Like all genuinely interesting fairs, CAN also functions as a radar for future contemporary art stars.
Among the most talked-about proposals this year are artists such as Savannah Harris, presenting Gathering; Javier Ruiz, represented by VETA by Fer Francés; and Ubay Murillo with Artizar.
There will also be space for some of the most interesting international galleries of the moment, including Shanghai-based Cub_ism_Artspace, which will bring part of the new Chinese contemporary art ecosystem to Ibiza.
Meanwhile, Patricia Low Contemporary will present major names such as Erwin Wurm, Joel Mesler, Luke Edward Hall and Mario Testino, consolidating itself as one of the most anticipated galleries of this year’s edition.
And that is one of the most attractive aspects of CAN: the constant feeling of discovery. With every edition, it is still possible to encounter artists before they fully explode onto the international scene.
The OFF Programme transforms Ibiza into a vast exhibition space
But CAN doesn’t only happen inside the fair itself. For several editions now, the so-called OFF Programme has transformed June into a true month of art across Ibiza. This year, the programme expands even further, running from 29 May to 28 June with exhibitions, interventions and special projects spread throughout the island.
The initiative seeks to connect the fair with the local cultural context while opening contemporary art to new audiences. Artists including Marina Marón, Catalina Julve, Federica Furbelli, Mercedes Balle and Ana Grajales will participate in emblematic spaces such as Sa Punta des Molí, Faro de Ses Coves Blanques, Es Polvorí and the Jesús Cultural Centre.
In addition, the CAN Local programme will once again activate galleries, museums and cultural spaces across the island, including MACE, Can Garita, Espacio Micus, Olas Gallery and In Between Gallery.

The experience goes far beyond walking through an art fair: CAN proposes a different way of experiencing Ibiza through contemporary culture, connecting art, landscape, architecture, gastronomy and creative community.
Art, the Mediterranean and desire
Part of CAN’s magnetism lies in its setting. Ibiza brings a very particular atmosphere where contemporary art coexists with the Mediterranean landscape, gastronomy, music and a uniquely social energy. And rather than trying to neutralise that, CAN embraces it as part of its identity.
There is something especially compelling in the way the fair manages to combine international sophistication with a certain island ease. And that has become a major attraction for collectors, gallerists and creative professionals alike.
A fair with its own identity
Five years after its creation, CAN Ibiza has found something that is not always easy within the international art circuit: a recognisable identity.
Rather than competing with major international fairs through scale or spectacle, CAN has gradually built a more thoughtful format, where the selection of galleries, the Mediterranean context and the coexistence between art, design and contemporary culture all become part of a far more organic experience.
