Fést: design furniture created to change the world

Fést is a Dutch company with nine years of history, founded by Furnée Femke. Its purpose has always been to offer well-designed furniture at a reasonable price, as she found it really difficult and, at that time, the options were restricted to mass-produced furniture or unaffordable top range designer brands. That’s why she wanted to fill that gap with a new brand of furniture and home décor which was designer, good quality but at affordable prices with excellent customer service.

“A nicely decorated space can make people happy.”

As well as being available at over one hundred retailers in over twenty countries, in restaurants, hotels and offices, Fést Amsterdam products, such as their bar stools and dining room chairs are also in the Grand Théâtre de Genève and in the head offices of Karl Lagerfeld in Amsterdam, who in addition is a great fan of the brand.

Customer value

One of the aspects of this brand that we find most remarkable is the value that they give the customer, without sounding phony. From the start, they realized how relevant the customer’s voice was in order to be able to create products adapted to their needs, and that’s the reason that the brand maintains a very close and productive relationship with them. Both during the digital and physical communication prior to the purchase, as well as during the process of the purchase itself and above all, after having acquired the product.

“In every decision we make, we ask ourselves: What is best for our customer?”

Made in Europe

“All our furniture are manufactured in Europe, and most of them in the Netherlands.”

This allows them to maintain a close relationship with their factories and to better manage any aspect related to their quality standards, to create a secure environment for the artisans with which they work and of course, to make huge savings on toxic emissions due to transport.

Premium services

Additionally, they offer free fabric samples – you can choose up to 5 free ones, the leather samples are not available online. The best thing is that in two of their shops – those located in Amsterdam West and Ghent – they have a beautiful mini cinema! It was created so that we can try out our favourite sofa(s). An unbeatable idea to discover which one is the best one for us. The thing is choosing a sofa is much more complicated than it seems as it’s not just about the aesthetics but is, above all, about comfort. And when we go to a shop, we sit in it if the model we want is available and if not, we have to imagine if it will be to our taste. That’s why we think it’s a great idea to be able to try out and choose which sofa is the most suitable for us while we watch a film and make ourselves at home.

Another service we miss when we buy this type of products is receiving advice. In this case, what Fést suggests is the following: a 45-minute session, that normally takes place in the showroom they have in Amsterdam, in their Antwerp or Ghent shops or even online. You can book your appointment here.Based on a questionnaire that you have to fill out, they will take care of offering you advice and the best aesthetic solution and additionally, one that fits your budget. And if you are more or less clear and only need a little time to completely make up your mind and to ask a question or two, but without an advisor with you, they propose another option which is to shop by appointment. In this case, you can book some time at the shop and they will clarify any questions or doubts that may arise. You can check locations here and the opening hours of their shops.

Great quality, practical and useful timeless designs

The designs at Fést are bright, elegant, colourful and although they follow the latest trends, their aesthetic goes that step beyond and comfort, durability and usability always come first. They advocate the creation of products that will stay with us for a long time and will become part of our lives.

The majority of designs are carried out in-house as they have their own design team but they also perform collaborations with external designers.

Their current collection includes sofas, armchairs, different types of chairs, stools, tables, side tables, low units, shelves and accessories to decorate the home, as well as their new Outdoor furniture collection.

Spring- Summer 2022 collection

This new collection is made up of candle holders in mint, caramel, sand, yellow and light blue colours; cushions with interesting graphic lines and vases as well as new fun organic prints in more daring colours. A good example is their best-seller: the Plateau side tables – designed by sisters Silva and Antonia Terhedebrügge from Studio Terhedebrügge – that, on this occasion, are dyed in three new colours, cobalt blue, neon lime and emerald. Other examples are their six new cushions Stripes & Checks, that stand out for their stripes and squares in orange, purple, yellow, green and sand; and also Bubble which is their new blown-glass vase in the collection. It is available in amber and blue.

The Outdoor collection

It is their first outdoor furniture and accessory collection and includes the famous Dunbar sofa. This is the brand’s top selling sofa, of which they have designed a version that is suitable for outdoors thanks to its soft olefin-fibre fabric in offwhite (well known for its solid colour fastness following exposure to sun and for its water repellent layer) which is available in two models. The collection also includes a black and white rug made in PET, suitable for indoor and outdoor use; a variety of cushions to relax in the garden, the patio, the balcony or on a terrace and a very original version of the Plateau side tables made in high quality acrylic this time and available in coral cloud (it is completely transparent).

“Our ambition knows no bounds. Our aim is to conquer the world.”

The truth is that it is a joy to see how new brands that go beyond appearance and that have a mission and a holistic vision of their business continue to emerge. At Fést they were clear from the start that their objective is not only to offer quality design products at affordable prices but to provide a work philosophy that improves the quality of life of their employees and customers and that, of course, doesn’t threaten the planet but in fact does quite the reverse. Bravo!
