ARKET opens its first flagship store in Barcelona

Address: Passeig de Gràcia, 26 (Barcelona)

To the delight of many, ARKET, the Nordic design brand offering collections of fashion for men, women, and children as well as home goods, has just opened its first flagship store in Spain, located on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona.

This new store features the full range of the brand’s clothing and accessories for both men and women, children’s apparel, body care products, and interior design items. It spans a total of 650 square meters, distributed between the ground floor and the first floor of a historic residential building from 1900. The store combines ARKET’s signature soft gray monochromatic palette with natural materials, such as solid oak interiors, custom terrazzo floors, and plants.

On the first floor, there is also a beautiful terrace overlooking the inner courtyards, as well as indoor relaxation areas featuring restored pieces from Artek 2nd Cycle, a platform for lighting, furniture, and other second-hand everyday objects from the Finnish brand.

“We are very happy to have finally opened our first store in Barcelona.” Pernilla Wohlfahrt

Interestingly, ARKET’s design philosophy has its roots in the Nordic modernist movement of the 20th century, coined in 1919 by Swedish art historian Gregor Paulsson. Through his maxim “More beautiful everyday goods,” he articulated a new, democratic approach aimed at bridging the gap between art, craftsmanship, and functional form to produce affordable and accessible items. In the Nordic countries, this aspiration took on a new aesthetic characterized by clean lines, a neutral color palette, and solid materials drawn from nature and the Nordic climate. Above all, it prioritized functionality and longevity as the foundation of good design.

From this heritage grounded in simplicity and nature, as well as the aesthetics of a deliberate life, ARKET emerged, with an ambition from the outset to offer a diverse range of clothing and home goods, all carefully crafted and selected to enhance daily life with beauty, comfort, and timeless aesthetic neutrality.

Additionally, the Barcelona store includes a pop-up bookstore in collaboration with the Barcelona-based publisher Apartamento, featuring their magazine and a selection of books on food, art, and everyday aesthetics.

Without further ado, we recommend you go and visit it.
