DISSSSENY, the online platform for Catalan design
DISSSSENY is a project promoted by architects Aureli Mora and Omar Ornaque (AMOO studio), with the purpose of paying tribute to Catalan design.
In its online store, they have gathered an excellently curated selection of Catalan design products and locally produced items, available for sale at prices accessible to all audiences. All the selected pieces have been designed by professionals from the world of architecture and other disciplines beyond design, including: AMOO, Andrea Batlló, Lluís Alexandre Casanovas, Mariana de Delás, MAIO, and Elías Torres…
AMOO studio
AMOO studio is the collaboration between architects Aureli Mora and Omar Ornaque. The architecture studio does not distinguish between the disciplines of architecture, interior design, product design, and heritage dissemination; rather, it aims to bring them together and connect them in all its projects. AMOO studio is also the creator and promoter of arquitectuacatalana.cat, a digital documentary collection focused on modern and contemporary architecture designed and built in Catalonia from 1832 to the present day. The project is promoted by the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC).

Lluís Alexandre Casanovas
Lluís Alexandre Casanovas is an architect, curator, and critic. He holds a PhD from Princeton University with the thesis: “The redesign of José Val de l’Omar’s sensor: media, politics, and space in Francoist Spain”.
Mariana de Delás
Mariana de Delás is a multidisciplinary studio focused on creating projects with an idealistic, playful, and artistic approach to architecture. Focusing on sustainability in both urban and rural environments, its main goal is to connect nature and ecology through experimentation with new tools and technologies, following a practical methodology. In addition to architectural projects, the studio also develops installations, products, exhibitions, interiors, contracts, and small projects exploring the intersections of art and architecture.

MAIO
MAIO is an architecture studio that works with flexible systems where concepts such as variation, ephemerality, or ad-hoc allow theoretical positions to be materialized. It consists of María Charneco, Alfredo Lleida, Guillermo López, and Anna Puigjaner, architects who combine their professional activity with academic, research, and editorial work. The studio has given lectures at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, GSAPP-Columbia University, RIBA, UC Berkeley, Yale School of Architecture, and the Piet Zwart Institute, among others.
Elías Torres
Elías Torres is an architect awarded the National Architecture Prize of Spain, the Ramon Llull Prize from the Government of the Balearic Islands, and the Gold Medal of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa, among others. Since 1968, he has shared a professional studio with José Antonio Martínez Lapeña. He holds a PhD from the Escola Técnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona and has been a professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya since 1979. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard University and UCLA, and a resident at the Spanish Academy in Rome.

Home for homeless designs
The origin of this interesting project arose from the awareness that the world of product design is divided between long-standing pieces produced in series by traditional furniture publishers, and unique handcrafted pieces closely linked to the concept of art galleries. This is why DISSSSENY was born to fill the market gap between these two worlds, acting as a platform for the sale and dissemination of objects and furniture made by local designers and producers, manufactured to order, and delivered directly to the customer.
“We are not publishers; rather, we are a catalyst and amplifier for homeless designs.” Aureli Mora
Love for native design
Beyond its commercial aspect, DISSSSENY also emerged from the founders’ concern to document a general chronology of Catalan design that they consider relevant, from the early 20th century to the present day.
On the online store’s website, users also have access to a grid that shows the clear evolution of crafts and trades defined over the years. They can also find exclusive information about designs made by renowned authors, from Antoni Gaudí to Arquitectura G, as well as essential classics like Miguel Milá, André Ricard, and Oscar Tusquets.

The selection of pieces and authors is open and dynamic, with a focus on new proposals, but also on pieces that, for some reason, have historically been outside the catalog or out of production.
Currently, DISSSSENY offers over thirty references for sale and intends to continue expanding its selection, covering a broad range of design pieces affordable for all budgets, promoting products made by local designers, producers, industrialists, and artisans.
“We offer design objects and furniture for a wide audience. Prices range from €35 to €2,700.” Omar Ornaque
This curated selection of designs made by the founders, AMOO studio, includes pieces from their own production, as well as from renowned designers, architects, and creative minds, through a digital platform that allows for their commercialization.

Highly recommended.
