For more than two decades, OFFF Barcelona<\/strong> has established itself as one of the leading international gatherings dedicated to creativity, design and visual culture. What began as a pioneering initiative to bring together designers, digital artists and visual creators has evolved into a global platform where disciplines, ideas and new ways of understanding contemporary creativity intersect.<\/p>\n

In its upcoming edition, the festival will once again bring together in Barcelona some of the most influential voices on the international creative scene, alongside a new generation of talent redefining the visual language of our time.<\/p>\n

As media partners, we recently spoke with Pep Salazar, co-founder of OFFF, about the spirit of the festival, the relationship between creativity, technology and the city, and Barcelona\u2019s role as one of the world\u2019s great creative hubs. Read on.<\/u><\/p>\n

OFFF Barcelona has become one of the most important festivals for creativity and visual culture in the world. From your perspective, what makes OFFF a unique experience within the international landscape of creative festivals?<\/h6>\n

OFFF<\/em> is a great meeting point for creative minds and talent shaping the visual image of the world. It\u2019s an open space for everyone, with no barriers or backstage areas, and it also features an outstanding programme to help understand the world to come in terms of design and digital art.<\/p>\n

This year Barcelona is the World Capital of Architecture. From your perspective, how do disciplines such as architecture, design and the visual arts interact within the creative ecosystem celebrated by OFFF?<\/h6>\n

We took advantage of the coincidence to shamelessly introduce architects into the line-up of speakers. Creative disciplines brush against each other, permeate one another and spread between fields.<\/p>\n

From my perspective, architects shape the cities and the spaces we inhabit, and that cannot be only about cement and bricks: it\u2019s about skins covered with screens, landscape spaces and how we live in cities\u2026 it\u2019s about design.<\/p>\n

OFFF was founded 25 years ago. Looking back, how has the festival evolved from its beginnings to becoming a global reference for the creative community?<\/h6>\n

It has been an organic evolution, always observing who is creating interesting, new and bold work. It\u2019s a passion we\u2019ve been working on 365 days a year for more than two decades in order to build a platform and a space where creativity becomes something sublime.<\/p>\n

Barcelona has always had a strong creative identity. What role do you think the city plays in the spirit and evolution of the festival?<\/h6>\n

Barcelona is permeable by nature, porous in its essence, and that allows creativity to flourish.<\/p>\n

The city accompanies us with a narrative very similar to ours: elevating talent and the creative industry.<\/p>\n

Over the years, OFFF has brought together some of the most influential names in design, illustration, animation and digital art. How do you select the speakers and what do you look for in the voices participating in the festival?<\/h6>\n

We look for excellence, novelty, risk, surprise and inspiration, a lot of inspiration. The selection comes from observing, listening and proposing.<\/p>\n

We follow the concentric circles of influence within the creative sector, but we also look beyond those circles to discover new forms and creative visions.<\/p>\n

The festival has always managed to combine major international figures with emerging talents. How important is it for OFFF to discover and give visibility to the next generation of creatives?<\/h6>\n

It is extremely important, because without new talents we will never have big names in the future. For me, everyone is equally important.<\/p>\n

At a time when creativity is increasingly linked to technology, artificial intelligence and new digital tools, how do you see the creative sector evolving in the coming years?<\/h6>\n

I see that, just like 10 or 20 years ago, technologies, software and digital tools are surprising at the beginning, but once they become part of everyday life they simply become tools. Strengthening talent, critical thinking and original creation is what truly matters, regardless of the tool.<\/p>\n

OFFF is not only a conference event but also a meeting space for the creative community. How would you describe the energy and the connections generated during the festival?<\/h6>\n

We try to combine a rock festival with a design conference. The atmosphere of the festival is open, while the content is closer to a congress.<\/p>\n

We move away from the corporate environment and aim to create sincere and accessible spaces that encourage natural encounters and conversations. We don\u2019t direct networking \u2014 we let it flow.<\/p>\n

Looking specifically at this year\u2019s edition, what would you say are some of the must-see highlights of the line-up?<\/h6>\n

I wouldn\u2019t miss Foster + Partners<\/em>, teamLab<\/em>, Reuben Wu<\/em>, Noah Dillon<\/em>, James Batchman<\/em>, Silent Partners Studio<\/em> or FutureDeluxe<\/em>. Architecture, science, photography, motion\u2026 and above all the final show by Hamill Industries<\/em>, who are preparing something new and specific to close the festival.<\/p>\n

After so many years leading the project, what moment or edition of the festival do you remember as particularly significant?<\/h6>\n

It\u2019s difficult to choose just one among so many. Perhaps the first edition we held at Disseny Hub<\/em>, which later became our second home; or last year, when, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, we launched a spectacular section called \u201cThe Screen\u201d<\/em>, where we mapped the building with the city in the background.<\/p>\n

That vision is how I imagine Barcelona.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give today to young designers and creatives who are starting their careers in an increasingly competitive sector?<\/h6>\n

I\u2019m not brave enough to give advice yet\u2026 ;)<\/p>\n

Looking to the future, how do you imagine the evolution of OFFF in the coming years?<\/h6>\n

I still see it as that great meeting point and source of inspiration and, of course, as a major content platform \u2014 a repository of creativity and a window onto what\u2019s new.<\/p>\n
