From her Milan-based studio, founded in 2001, she has developed a distinctive language rooted in sustainability, emotion and new ways of inhabiting space. Her pieces feature in collections at the MoMA<\/em> in New York and the Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs<\/em> in Paris.<\/p>\n

Trained at the Pratt Institute<\/em> in New York, Leiro<\/em> combines material research, object design and strategic thinking. He has led projects such as the independent Mayrit biennial<\/em><\/a> and the Office of Design<\/em> platform, positioning himself as a catalyst for creative networks and new narratives. His playful, pedagogical and open-minded vision makes him one of the most promising voices in Spanish design.<\/p>\n

Viccarbe: design as business strategy and Mediterranean essence<\/h6>\n

In the Design and Business category<\/strong>, the 2025 National Design Award<\/em> has been granted to Viccarbe<\/strong><\/a>, a Valencian company that has made design the central axis of its business model.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2000 by V\u00edctor Carrasco<\/em> and Daniel Benedito<\/em>, Viccarbe<\/em> has combined international vision with local commitment, placing human wellbeing at the heart of every creation.<\/p>\n

The jury praised the brand\u2019s ability to integrate design across all areas \u2014 from product and packaging to visual identity, communications and corporate culture. Viccarbe<\/em> represents an exemplary model that merges innovation, quality and environmental responsibility, all with a strong Mediterranean spirit.<\/p>\n

Their warm, functional and timeless designs foster interaction and creativity in work, educational and domestic spaces across more than 80 countries. Collaborations with figures such as Patricia Urquiola<\/em>, Jaime Hayon<\/em>, Jasper Morrison<\/em>, Naoto Fukasawa<\/em> and Meike Harde<\/em> have consolidated Viccarbe<\/em>\u2019s identity as a leading name in contemporary Spanish design. The award, in the words of the Viccarbe<\/em> team, is “a tribute to our collective commitment to honest, emotional and deeply human design”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Diego Areso: the power of editorial design<\/h6>\n

Designer Diego Areso Nieva<\/strong><\/a> has received a Special Mention in the Lifetime Achievement category<\/strong> for his key role in the transformation of editorial and graphic design in Spain. As art director and deputy editor at El Pa\u00eds<\/em>, Areso<\/em> has led the redesign of titles such as P\u00fablico<\/em>, S Moda<\/em> and Vogue Mexico<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The jury praised his teaching and outreach work, as well as his role in shaping new generations of designers. His innovative vision of information architecture has made him a reference in the digital adaptation of media.<\/p>\n

Design as a driver of structural change<\/h6>\n

The 2025 National Design Awards<\/em> not only celebrate individual achievements and successful business models \u2014 they reaffirm a core idea: design is a structural tool that connects creativity, economy and society.<\/p>\n

Chaired by Teresa Riesgo<\/em>, Secretary General for Innovation, the jury included leading figures such as Leticia Sastre<\/em>, Manuel Blanco<\/em> and Ariel Guersenzvaig<\/em>, who all emphasised the generational, disciplinary and regional diversity of the winners.<\/p>\n

The awards coincide with the presentation of the National Innovation Awards, highlighting the intersection of knowledge, technology and creativity. Among the winners are Luis Felipe Serrano<\/em>, Marcos Gonz\u00e1lez (H2 Dron Energy)<\/em>, Fertinagro Biotech<\/em> and Sepiia 2080<\/em> \u2014 all leaders in sustainability, business innovation and technological development.<\/p>\n
