A festival for discovering young talent<\/h6>\n

From 25 June to 4 September 2025<\/strong>, Art Nou<\/strong><\/a> returns \u2014 the festival of emerging art that transforms Barcelona and L\u2019Hospitalet into a vibrant showcase of youthful creativity. In its 14th edition, the event is now firmly established as a cultural summer must<\/strong>, blending galleries, independent spaces and institutions, and presenting more than 30 solo exhibitions by around 40\u201360 artists under 35.<\/p>\n

Organised by ArtBarcelona<\/em>, Art Nou<\/em> has become an essential professional springboard. New creators find genuine visibility platforms here, market contacts, dialogue with gallery owners and curators, and a unique opportunity to engage with the general public.<\/p>\n

Distinctive venues and professional pathways<\/h6>\n

This year, over 36 venues<\/strong> are taking part: 21 galleries, 11 self?managed spaces and four major institutions, including Centre d\u2019Art La Capella<\/em>, Sala d\u2019Art Jove<\/em>, Sant Andreu Contemporani<\/em> and the University of Barcelona<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This mix ensures a plural experience that\u2019s deeply rooted in local dynamics, spanning galleries in the Eixample and Poblenou to emerging initiatives such as DOM Art Residence<\/em>, Raccoon Projects<\/em> and Espai Souvenir<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Voices and themes with creative urgency<\/h6>\n

The exhibitions at Art Nou 2025<\/em> explore a wide range of topics: identity, memory, migration, mental health, uncertainty and gender. Highlights include:<\/p>\n

– <\/strong>\u201cLa irrupci\u00f3 no \u00e9s sempre una explosi\u00f3\u201d<\/strong> (Campo Florido)<\/em>: Soledad Marcote<\/em>, Gaby Lobato<\/em>, Lorena Ruiz Pellicero<\/em> and Aitanna Pascual Casaux<\/em> delve into fragility and subtlety with art that “vibrates, approaches, trembles”.<\/p>\n

– At LAB 36, \u201cTurning up the light to see the darkness\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>by Julia Creuheras<\/em> contrasts light and shadow, inviting us to discover that intimate, collective space visible only through creation.<\/p>\n

– Artists such as Blanca Gracia<\/em>, Alex Luz Palomares<\/em>, Helena Ripoll<\/em>, Can Lej\u00e1rraga<\/em>, Marcelline Mandeng Nken<\/em> and Roc\u00edo Quillahuaman<\/em> <\/strong>address hybrid forms as well as social, feminist and post colonial issues.<\/p>\n

Extensive activity programme<\/h6>\n

Art Nou<\/em> isn\u2019t limited to exhibitions. The festival offers a rich side programme with guided tours<\/strong>, artist talks, openings, performances and screenings. These events foster close dialogue between creators and the public, encouraging an active, shared cultural experience.<\/p>\n

There are also professional days<\/strong> held in collaboration with Fine Arts faculties, designed to showcase emerging collectives and projects \u2014 sometimes straight from the schools \u2014 and to foster institutional and market connections.<\/p>\n

Awards and recognition: boosting emerging talent<\/h6>\n

The concluding event at La Capella<\/em> will include several awards that reinforce the festival\u2019s professional mission: a main prize (judged by figures such as Marta Ses\u00e9<\/em>, Berta Caldentey<\/em> and Joana Roda<\/em>), the opportunity to be selected by SWAB fair<\/em>, an exhibition residency courtesy of Hotel Wittmore, and an acquisition prize from Fundaci\u00f3n \u00daniques<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This support system provides artists with visibility, resources and networks to advance their careers.<\/p>\n

A window on international emerging art<\/h6>\n

Although focused on the Catalan Spanish scene, Art Nou<\/em> also calls on international artists<\/strong>, bringing a global outlook. By tackling migration, feminism, sustainability and memory, the festival engages with emergent fields in European contemporary art.<\/p>\n
