To take this tour, we got behind the wheel of the new 02 model from our partner <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ccmagazine.es\/en\/lynk-co-a-new-mobility-concept\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lynk &amp; Co<\/a><\/em>, a 100% electric crossover coupe (with a range of up to 445 km). This model, like its predecessor, the 01, is incredibly comfortable, quiet, and very easy to drive. While the large galleries in the Barrio de las Letras or Salamanca continue to dominate the city&#8217;s art market, Carabanchel has positioned itself as a hub for innovation and experimentation, providing space for artistic proposals that explore urban, social, and experimental themes. The gallery&#8217;s international program focuses on artists and practices that echo contemporary values and concerns related to the Global South. For over a decade, the gallery has built bridges between artists, institutions, art professionals, and the public. However, in September 2022, the gallery changed its name and moved to Carabanchel. This contemporary art gallery focuses on showcasing and promoting young artists. It features well-known Spanish artists like <em>Abraham Lacalle<\/em>, <em>Mat\u00edas S\u00e1nchez<\/em>, and <em>Santiago Yd\u00e1\u00f1ez<\/em>, as well as established international figures like <em>Erik Parker<\/em>, <em>Christian Rex van Minnen<\/em>, <em>Theresa Chromati<\/em>, and <em>Manuel Ocampo<\/em>. The gallery also highlights emerging artists from around the world, such as <em>Juan de Morenilla<\/em>, <em>Atanda Quadri Adebayo<\/em>, and <em>Kang Haoxian<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, <em>VETA<\/em> is undergoing a major transformation. Its mission is to build compensatory narratives by shifting aesthetics from the periphery, showing a strong interest in the historical art scene of Latin America. The gallery also focuses on revisionist research that involves a broader spectrum of artists, geographies, and periods. The gallery opened in September 2020 and was founded by curator, artist, and collector <em>Alejandro de Villota<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Opening hours: Thursday, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Friday, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Saturday, 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the gallery is closed, and there are no exhibitions available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planta1.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Planta 1<\/strong><\/a> (V\u00edctor Manuel III, 18)<\/p>\n<p>In this independent exhibition space, an independent curatorial project develops, questioning the current status or system of contemporary art. It is also one of the lines of work of the non-profit association <em>Est\u00e9tica Masiva<\/em>, created in 2016. <em>Planta 1<\/em> focuses on the opening and dynamization of artistic discourses, generating perceptual experiences of diverse kinds, moving beyond traditional fine arts, visual arts, or plastic arts, with particular emphasis on projects distinguished by their uniqueness, where artists invest special attention to research, experimentation, and innovation, aiming to break down current boundaries between artistic categories and approaching a much more open concept of &#8220;art&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Opening hours: Thursday and Friday, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Saturday, 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Current exhibition: <em>&#8220;Escenas de lo surreal&#8221;<\/em> by <em>Marta Soul<\/em> (December 14, 2024 \u2013 February 22, 2025).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laoficinagaleria.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>La Oficina<\/strong><\/a> (Moren\u00e9s Arteaga 9)<\/p>\n<p>This former carpentry workshop, now converted into an art gallery, is led by <em>Ada Cerd\u00e1<\/em> and <em>Adriana Felizia<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Saturday, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Current exhibition: <em>&#8220;Pol\u00edtica de las formas&#8221;<\/em> by Chilean artist <em>Voluspa Jarpa<\/em>. Based on the declassification carried out in the United States regarding the 1973 coup against Chilean president <em>Salvador Allende<\/em>, the artist initiates a sophisticated discussion on the legibility of the archive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hypper House<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This independent space for contemporary creation was born in 2022 with the aim of exploring the relationships between the physical and digital worlds, hosting a series of expanded and experimental artistic practices. This year, they began offering <a href=\"https:\/\/hyperhouse.art\/es\/open-call-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">residencies for contemporary artists based in Spain (OPEN CALL)<\/a> whose work explores the intersections between physical and digital worlds. It represents and supports the work and careers of sixteen artists (eleven of them women) who are interested in the interaction between aesthetic phenomena and their social or political contexts: <em>Marina N\u00fa\u00f1ez<\/em>, <em>Enrique Marty<\/em>, <em>Ignacio P\u00e9rez-Jofre<\/em>, <em>Laura Salguero<\/em>, <em>Luis P\u00e9rez Calvo<\/em>, <em>Elisa Terroba<\/em>, <em>Josep Tornero<\/em>, <em>Mariajos\u00e9 Gallardo<\/em>, <em>Moreno&amp;Grau<\/em>, <em>Ver\u00f3nica Vicente, Laura L\u00f3pez Balza<\/em>, <em>Eva D\u00edez<\/em>, <em>Ana Teresa Barboza<\/em>, <em>Cristina Ram\u00edrez<\/em>, <em>Mar\u00eda Acuyo<\/em>, and <em>Javier Rodr\u00edguez Pino<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Opening hours: Thursday and Friday, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Saturday, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Current exhibition: <em>&#8220;Una historia espeluznante&#8221;<\/em> by <em>Javier Rodr\u00edguez Pino<\/em> (November 16, 2024 \u2013 February 8, 2025).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gaviota<\/strong> (Gaviota, 25)<\/p>\n<p>The workspace of <em>Burr Studio<\/em> is beautiful and also serves as an exhibition space. It can only be visited by appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there is no exhibition available, but for the upcoming edition of the <em>Madrid Design Festival<\/em>, which will take place from February 6 to March 15, 2025, artist <em>Jorge Penades<\/em> will present his new exhibition: <em>&#8220;UPROOTED&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benveniste.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Benveniste Contemporary<\/strong><\/a> (Nicol\u00e1s Morales, 37)<\/p>\n<p><em>Dan Benveniste<\/em> (Copenhagen, 1966) is a printmaker and publisher of original graphic works with 40 years of professional experience. <em>Benveniste Contemporary<\/em> was established in Madrid in 1993, where it exclusively prints and publishes contemporary graphic works, produced in close collaboration with national and international artists. With the help of his mentors <em>Elena Alonso<\/em> and <em>Usama Habil<\/em>, his goal is to push printmaking to its limits, regularly releasing series of unique pieces created over extended periods of work. The gallery collaborates with established artists as well as emerging talents, and specializes in photogravure and large-format prints. Since 1999, under the brand <em>The Print Subscribers Club<\/em>, <em>Benveniste Contemporary<\/em> has published a portfolio every six months with works by a selected artist for an exclusive group of subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Current exhibition: <em>&#8220;La \/estructura\/ bajo presi\u00f3n&#8221;<\/em> by <em>Juan L\u00f3pez<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h6>Artist Studios<\/h6>\n<p>During our visit to the area, we had the chance to visit the studios of <em>Mister Piro<\/em>, <em>Irene Molina<\/em>, and <em>Sabek<\/em>, an inspiring space where all three artists work regularly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-79704 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ccmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RutagaleriasCarabanchel_CCmagazine33.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"1400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ccmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RutagaleriasCarabanchel_CCmagazine33.png 935w, https:\/\/ccmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RutagaleriasCarabanchel_CCmagazine33-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/ccmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RutagaleriasCarabanchel_CCmagazine33-284x425.png 284w, https:\/\/ccmagazine.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RutagaleriasCarabanchel_CCmagazine33-768x1150.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 935px) 100vw, 935px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The visual and urban artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/misterpiro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Misterpiro<\/em><\/a> (Madrid, 1994) began his career on the streets with graffiti, while perfecting his techniques in the studio by combining watercolors and acrylic paints.
