These were reinvented by Ludovica\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Roberto Palomba<\/em>\u00a0from the Palomba Serafini Associati <\/em>studio.<\/p>\n Its new owners,\u00a0GS Collection<\/em>, decided to reshape and re-imagine the property carrying out a harmonious combination of sublime minimalism, 19th century splendour and contemporary art.<\/p>\n To do so, they demolished the interior, preserving the architectural integrity of the structure by restoring the ornamented frescoes and original flooring, and they went for a minimalist design that combines perfectly with the palazzo<\/em>\u2019s original frescoes, the vaulted ceilings and the mosaic floors.<\/p>\n Some of the key points of the hotel\u2019s social concept are the principles that connect the “hyper-localisation”, the community and the kitchen where the Salini creed<\/em>,\u00a0“questa casa non \u00e8 un albergo”<\/em>\u00a0(“this house is not a hotel”<\/em>) makes the guests feel like they are part of an intimate family palace.<\/p>\n The unique and lasting relationship between the palazzo<\/em>\u00a0and the local community guarantees incomparable access to traditional Pugliese life<\/em>, which allows authentic experiences such as visiting local farms or fishing with the local fishermen, so that the professional chef at the hotel can prepare the produce and it can be savoured together at the shared table.<\/p>\n Palazzo Daniele<\/em> exudes art from every pore. When the property was reimagined, the decision was made not to fill the rooms with unnecessary furniture, but to let the spaces breathe \u2014 and speak. The majestic halls were transformed into open exhibition areas, allowing the light, the patina of the walls and the carefully chosen works to create a dialogue between past and present.<\/p>\n Several of the artworks and pieces of furniture were handpicked or commissioned by art collector and co-owner Francesco Petrucci<\/em>, who infused the palazzo with his personal vision and curatorial sensibility.<\/p>\n Among the standout pieces: a sculptural lamp by Luigi Presicci<\/em>, minimalist stools by Nicolas Party<\/em>, a haunting sculpture by Roberto Cuoghi<\/em>, and a striking lithograph by Carla Accardi<\/em>.<\/p>\n These contemporary voices now coexist with ancestral portraits, vaulted ceilings, and neoclassical frescoes \u2014 creating an atmosphere where time layers itself elegantly.<\/p>\n There\u2019s no separation here between art and life. The corridors, salons and even bedrooms become immersive experiences, where each object, texture and silence feels intentional. The result is a kind of living gallery \u2014 not static or staged, but fluid, emotional and profoundly human.<\/p>\n The suites all offer views to the property\u2019s courtyard, the open-air pool or the town\u2019s central piazzetta. They have lightboxes designed by Simon d’Exea<\/em>, that also have a functional purpose in lighting up the space, as well as unique artwork by several contemporary artists such as Claudio Abbate<\/em>,\u00a0Eva Jospin<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Christian Frosi<\/em>.<\/p>\n The are framed by vaulted ceilings and are sparsely furnished to highlight the design pieces that blur the lines between art and their function.<\/p>\n Centred around a grand living room which is filled with light and dates back to the first decade of the nineteenth century, the large Master Suite<\/em> has an area of 130 sqm, in which there are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a selection of items from Palazzo Daniele<\/em>\u2019s enviable art collection, whereas the aristocratic Suite Apartment<\/em>\u00a0of 200 sqm takes up an entire wing of the palazzo<\/em> with its own independent access, a private kitchen, a living room, three bedrooms, three private bathrooms and a dining room.<\/p>\n The apartment is characterised by a surprising combination of architectural legacy, minimalist design and daring artwork, that includes “Pocket” <\/em>by\u00a0Mohamed Namou<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0“Prototipo Macchina per la Conquista del Mondo”<\/em>\u00a0by\u00a0Sergio Breviario<\/em>.<\/p>\n The spacious\u00a0Junior Suites<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Royal Junior Suite<\/em>\u00a0have king size beds and black steel framed open wardrobes: a feature of the firm in every suite. The bathroom of the latter was conceived as a live art installation, in which a rainshower falls from a six-metre-high ceiling over a basin designed by the Italian artist\u00a0Andrea Sala<\/em>.<\/p>\n The latest addition to Palazzo Daniele<\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0The Black Suite<\/em>, a penthouse that has an open-air private terrace with views to the entire courtyard. Marvellous!<\/p>\n The\u00a0palazzo <\/em>has other spaces that enhance the community feel of the hotel even more, encouraging the guests to relax with an aperitif by the fireplace in the living room or in the lovely open-air courtyard, the central architectural piece at Palazzo Daniele<\/em>.<\/p>\n The open kitchen with a view to the pool through an arched window, serves as a main meeting point: a place where to sit, eat, drink and talk. Breakfast, light snacks, lunch and dinner are prepared in the hotel by the local cooks, whose families have lived in Gagliano del Capo<\/em>\u00a0for generations. And they prepare these using fresh local ingredients.<\/p>\n Outside, on the grounds of the property, the guests can enjoy a steam bath or sauna and, depending on the weather, they can also sunbathe or take a dip in the pool or even enjoy a romantic candle-lit dinner in the Kaffeehaus<\/em> facility.<\/p>\n Located in Gagliano del Capo, in the Salento region of southern Puglia, Palazzo Daniele<\/em> enjoys a truly privileged setting. Nestled between two seas \u2014the rocky, dramatic Adriatic coast and the golden, sun-drenched beaches of the Ionian\u2014 this part of Italy offers a landscape where nature, history and art converge.
