It\u00b4s called\u00a0<strong>Seven Magic Mountains<\/strong>,\u00a0and it revolves around seven piles of rocks in towers, made from local\u00a0limestone. Each of the stones that make up every one of the seven columns is painted in a different fluorescent colour; all incredibly beautiful.\u00a0Each of these totems measure approximately 10 metres high and are inspired by the\u00a0Apachetas, the stone mounds that the old indigenous people from\u00a0South America\u00a0left along their paths as a sign of prosperity and good fortune.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/sevenmagicmountains.com\/\">Seven Magic Mountains<\/a><\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>are located in the middle of the Mojave Desert, south of\u00a0Las Vegas, specifically on interstate 15, very close to\u00a0Lago Seco. We\u2019re talking about a unique monument, with which the artist wants to make us think about our connection with nature. This is to say, especially about the link between man (roads and cars) and nature (desert).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Art Production Fund\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Nevada\u2019s Art Museum<\/em>\u00a0have coproduced this installation which will remain in situ for three more years, as the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) extended the existing permit at the end of 2018 by 3 years, so that this work of art can be seen until the end of 2021. After this temporary exhibit, one of the seven sculptures will be exhibited in one of Las Vegas\u2019s main streets.<\/p>\n<p>Its location on the I-15 is specially emotive, as it has been estimated that approximately 16 million cars will drive by the seven sculptures, making it one of the most visible works in the planet\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, I haven\u2019t yet been able to see them live and in person, but I hope to do so soon.\u00a0<em>Seven Magic Mountains<\/em> is one more reason to visit Las Vegas beyond its casinos, neon lights and madness that are so characteristic of its streets and visitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(*)<\/strong> Photo: Ugo Rondinone website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Famous for creating\u00a0land art\u00a0plastic\u00a0creations\u00a0Ugo Rondinone, has a piece in the desert that fascinates us!!!
