What began as an almost intuitive vision by Sergio Sancho \u2014 also founder of CAN Madrid<\/em> \u2014 has evolved into a true Mediterranean \u201cArt Week\u201d<\/em>, where galleries, collectors, artists, designers and culture lovers coexist between exhibitions, conversations, hotels, beach clubs and impossible sunsets.<\/p>\n

And perhaps that is precisely part of CAN<\/em>\u2019s success: understanding that contemporary art can also be experienced through desire, atmosphere and aesthetic pleasure.<\/p>\n

A boutique fair with an international perspective<\/h6>\n

Curated by Sasa Bogojev<\/em>, the fair maintains its boutique format and carefully selected roster of invited galleries, reinforcing a coherent curatorial line deeply connected to the new sensibilities shaping contemporary art today.<\/p>\n

More than 30 national and international galleries will participate this year at the FECOEV<\/em> venue, with a strong international presence once again confirming the fair\u2019s global character. New additions include names such as Patricia Low Contemporary,<\/em> Mayoral<\/em>, Georgina Pounds Gallery<\/em>, Good Mother Gallery<\/em> and VERVE<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than 30 national and international art galleries will participate this year.\u201d<\/h2>\n

The mix feels particularly compelling because CAN<\/em> manages to balance established artists with some of the most exciting emerging voices of the moment.<\/p>\n

The 2026 edition will bring together works by historical figures such as Leonora Carrington<\/em>, Erwin Wurm<\/em> and Mario Testino<\/em> alongside artists including Savannah Harris<\/em>, Javier Ruiz<\/em>, Ubay Murillo<\/em> and Jessica Luostarinen<\/em>.<\/p>\n

That dialogue between generations, languages and geographies is precisely one of the fair\u2019s greatest strengths.<\/p>\n

Contemporary art beyond painting<\/h6>\n

If there is one thing defining this new edition, it is the growing openness towards new formats and disciplines.<\/p>\n

Although painting still plays an important role, CAN Ibiza 2026<\/em> clearly embraces textile works, mixed media, installations and contemporary sculpture.<\/p>\n

It is a natural evolution that also reflects where the market itself is moving and, above all, the concerns and interests of newer generations of artists and collectors.<\/p>\n

In this sense, one of the major highlights will be the presence of galleries and projects exploring precisely that hybrid territory between art, design and contemporary craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

Particularly promising is the new edition of CAN Design<\/em>, a section dedicated to collectible pieces situated at the intersection of design, architecture and artistic creation.<\/p>\n

Following the success of its debut in 2025, this year spaces such as Galer\u00eda Tambi\u00e9n<\/em>, Nagami Design<\/em> and Estudio Laterna<\/em> will participate, reinforcing the idea that contemporary design can no longer be understood separately from today\u2019s visual culture.<\/p>\n

The names everyone will be talking about<\/h6>\n

Like all genuinely interesting fairs, CAN<\/em> also functions as a radar for future contemporary art stars.<\/p>\n

Among the most talked-about proposals this year are artists such as Savannah Harris, presenting Gathering<\/em>; Javier Ruiz<\/em>, represented by VETA by Fer Franc\u00e9s<\/em>; and Ubay Murillo<\/em> with Artizar<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There will also be space for some of the most interesting international galleries of the moment, including Shanghai-based Cub_ism_Artspace<\/em>, which will bring part of the new Chinese contemporary art ecosystem to Ibiza.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Patricia Low Contemporary<\/em> will present major names such as Erwin Wurm<\/em>, Joel Mesler<\/em>, Luke Edward Hall<\/em> and Mario Testino<\/em>, consolidating itself as one of the most anticipated galleries of this year\u2019s edition.<\/p>\n

And that is one of the most attractive aspects of CAN<\/em>: the constant feeling of discovery. With every edition, it is still possible to encounter artists before they fully explode onto the international scene.<\/p>\n

The OFF Programme transforms Ibiza into a vast exhibition space<\/h6>\n

But CAN<\/em> doesn’t only happen inside the fair itself. For several editions now, the so-called OFF Programme<\/em> has transformed June into a true month of art across Ibiza. This year, the programme expands even further, running from 29 May to 28 June with exhibitions, interventions and special projects spread throughout the island.<\/p>\n

The initiative seeks to connect the fair with the local cultural context while opening contemporary art to new audiences. Artists including Marina Mar\u00f3n<\/em>, Catalina Julve<\/em>, Federica Furbelli<\/em>, Mercedes Balle<\/em> and Ana Grajales<\/em> will participate in emblematic spaces such as Sa Punta des Mol\u00ed<\/em>, Faro de Ses Coves Blanques<\/em>, Es Polvor\u00ed<\/em> and the Jes\u00fas Cultural Centre<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In addition, the CAN Local<\/em> programme will once again activate galleries, museums and cultural spaces across the island, including MACE<\/em>, Can Garita<\/em>, Espacio Micus<\/em>, Olas Gallery<\/em> and In Between Gallery<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe OFF Programme will extend across the island through exhibitions, interventions and special projects.\u201d<\/h2>\n

The experience goes far beyond walking through an art fair: CAN<\/em> proposes a different way of experiencing Ibiza through contemporary culture, connecting art, landscape, architecture, gastronomy and creative community.<\/p>\n

Art, the Mediterranean and desire<\/h6>\n

Part of CAN<\/em>\u2019s magnetism lies in its setting. Ibiza brings a very particular atmosphere where contemporary art coexists with the Mediterranean landscape, gastronomy, music and a uniquely social energy. And rather than trying to neutralise that, CAN<\/em> embraces it as part of its identity.<\/p>\n

There is something especially compelling in the way the fair manages to combine international sophistication with a certain island ease. And that has become a major attraction for collectors, gallerists and creative professionals alike.<\/p>\n

Five years after its creation, CAN Ibiza<\/em> has found something that is not always easy within the international art circuit: a recognisable identity.<\/p>\n

Rather than competing with major international fairs through scale or spectacle, CAN<\/em> has gradually built a more thoughtful format, where the selection of galleries, the Mediterranean context and the coexistence between art, design and contemporary culture all become part of a far more organic experience.<\/p>\n
